At Murrayfield we take bullying very seriously. We want to ensure concerns can be raised, are addressed and all children supported. We do this in a number of ways, including but not limited to:

  • Worry boxes in every room – If a pupil doesn’t want to talk directly to an adult they can write their worry down and know that each day it will be picked up by a member of staff.
  • Peer-on-peer abuse reporting – We make sure that we are reporting and intervening in disclosures of bullying using the latest guidance and support techniques.
  • PSHE and education – At Murrayfield we follow a comprehensive programme called Jigsaw which covers issues such as bullying in an age appropriate way, ensuring all children have a voice and are empowered to make the right decisions.
  • Reporting system – We talk to the pupils frequently about how they can report their worries such as bullying.  Children tell us they know who to speak to and are confident it will be followed up.
  • Restorative conversations – At an appropriate time, we ensure that children have an opportunity to talk through together the impact of bullying on them and find a way forward.
