Ofsted’s Chief Inspector visits Murrayfield

Ofsted chooses Murrayfield for national launch

We’re thrilled that Ofsted, the body that inspects standards in English schools, selected Murrayfield as the place to film for the national launch its annual report. Ofsted’s chief inspector Amanda Spielman spent the afternoon at the school, accompanied by a BBC film crew. She chatted with pupils and staff and listened to some of the children reading.

Ofsted chose Murrayfield because of the dramatic transformation the school has undergone since it was taken over by Paradigm Trust in 2017.

Amanda Spielman said that Murrayfield was a lovely school and that its progress had been highlighted by her inspectors. “It was great to be able to see the children at work and reading so well. I was also pleased to see such a well-thought-through curriculum in action and the staff pulling together and having that shared vision of what they can achieve.” Murrayfield principal Neil Winn and the staff were thrilled that the school had been chosen. Neil said: “In the three years since Paradigm Trust took over the management of Murrayfield, we’ve made huge progress. The entire mood of the school is different now. Pupils are much more focused on learning and our parents have given us lots of support. There’s a still a way to go, but we can be proud of what we achieved.”

Paradigm Trust Values Awards

This week, Paradigm Trust celebrated pupils who have been awarded all three values awards and have become the first values champions in the Trust. Paradigm shares the same core values throughout all of its schools:

  • Integrity – doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
  • Excellence – enabling everyone to achieve more through education.
  • Community – working together; learning from, and supporting, others.

Each week, pupils are nominated for positive behaviours that link to a value and each half term winners are chosen to receive a values award. Once a pupil has received an award for all three values s/he receives a values award. This week, 5 pupils from Murrayfield Primary Academy were recognised for receiving all three values awards and becoming values champions. Here are a few examples:

  • Integrity – for always doing the right thing and being a role model for the rest of the class
  • Community – for being kind and helpful to all and offering to help out around the classroom
  • Excellence – for completing work to the highest standards and responding to feedback given.

Pupils were presented with a certificate and values champion badge by Bill Holledge, CEO, Paradigm Trust and enjoyed a festive afternoon tea with their families.
