It has been a fun-filled final half term in Nursery, with our learning centred around journeys and holidays.

The children loved exploring our travel-themed role play areas, which included an Airport and Seaside Café. They practised taking turns, sharing ideas, building friendships and developing their communication and language skills.

Our story times inspired lots of discussion, singing and storytelling and the children also enjoyed mark-making, drawing and creating their own postcards and beach pictures.

In Maths, the children developed their counting skills, explored patterns, sorted objects, compared sizes and practised using mathematical language during everyday play.

We also enjoyed learning about different types of transport, investigating which objects float and sink, creating seaside artwork and talking about places we have visited or would like to travel to.

It has been wonderful to see how much the children have grown in confidence, independence and curiosity this year. We are so proud of everything they have achieved and wish them every success as they continue on the next stage of their learning journey.

It has been another exciting half term in Reception as we fully immersed ourselves in our Rainforest topic.

It has been another busy and exciting half term in Reception, with our learning focusing on journeys and holidays.

Inside the classroom, our role play areas were transformed into a Travel Agents and Airport, where the children enjoyed planning holidays and taking on different roles. Outside, they loved exploring our seaside café, beach shop and lemonade stand through imaginative play.

In Literacy, we shared stories including The Three Little Pigs, The Day the Crayons Came Home and The Snail and the Whale. These inspired a range of writing activities, including postcards, story retelling and setting descriptions.

In Maths, the children consolidated their understanding of addition and subtraction, money, odd and even numbers, sharing, shape, number bonds and teen numbers.

In PSHE, our topic was “Changing Me”, where we learnt about growing up, respecting our bodies, managing change and celebrating all that we have achieved as we prepare for Year 1.

We are incredibly proud of the progress the children have made throughout Reception. They have grown in confidence, independence and resilience, and are ready for the exciting challenges ahead. We wish them all the very best as they begin their journey into Year 1.

We have been super busy in Year 1 this half-term!

As the final days of the school year approach, it is wonderful to look back at just how much fun we’ve had and how much we have learned together.

Recently, our classroom has been full of excitement. In English, we absolutely loved reading Fantastic Mr Fox and writing all about the different characters and retelling the story. In Geography, we became local researchers as we learned about settlements, discovering interesting facts about our town and exploring the differences between villages and cities. We even got to step outside and draw our very own maps of the school playground using key words or pictures!

Our creative skills shone brightly in Art, where we had so much fun using recycled materials to design and build our own playground structures. Meanwhile, in Maths, we have been connecting our learning to everyday life by working hard with money, alongside mastering how to group and share using multiplication and division.

It is safe to say that we are officially ready for our next big adventure in Year 2! Thank you all for a fantastic year, and have a beautiful summer.

Year 1/2 have had a busy and exciting half term.

What a busy and exciting half term it has been for Year 1/2! Our young learners have thrown themselves into their learning with incredible enthusiasm.

In Science, they became ecologists, exploring different habitats and discovering how animals adapt to their environments. Meanwhile, in Geography, we mapped out the world around us to learn all about settlements and how communities are formed.

The creativity didn’t stop there – in Art, the children turned into architects, having a wonderful time designing and building their very own miniature playground structures.

Finally, in Maths, they took a massive leap forward by discovering the magic of multiplication. We are so incredibly proud of all their hard work and creativity!

We have had a wonderful, busy term of learning!

In Art, we became mini-architects by exploring different structures and building our very own awesome playgrounds. Our inner scientists came out as we explored the great outdoors, learning all about the life cycle of frogs and hunting for the minibeasts that live in our gardens and parks.

In Maths, we have been washing our hands and getting practical, learning all about how we measure water and understand capacity. The children have shown great curiosity across all these subjects!

What a spectacular final term it has been for Year 3!

The children have worked incredibly hard all year, and this term was no exception. In English, we have been diving into Rumaysa, exploring its wonderful modern twist on classic fairy tales, as well as completing some brilliant writing tasks inspired by last term’s favorite, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Our young geographers have been busy developing their map skills, while in science, we’ve traveled from pole to pole investigating how animals adapt to survive in extreme polar and arid environments.

Finally, in Design and Technology (DT), the children showed off their fantastic creativity and environmental awareness by crafting desk tidies entirely out of recycled materials.

We are immensely proud of all their hard work and achievements this year—well done, Year 3!

It has been an action-packed few weeks of discovery and adventure for our Year 4 pupils!

A definite highlight was our incredible trip to The Longshed Museum, where the children got to see history come to life as the famous Anglo-Saxon longship from Sutton Hoo is being spectacularly recreated.

Back in the classroom, we’ve been swept away by our class reader, The Girl Who Stole an Elephant, which has taken us on a thrilling, fast-paced adventure through a vibrant foreign land.

Our young scientists have also been hard at work learning how to classify animals and exploring the fascinating ways creatures adapt to their environments—including a thoughtful look at how human activity can accelerate these changes, leading to animal endangerment and extinction.

Finally, we’ve been sharpening our geography skills by reading and drawing detailed maps of our local area, while also opening our eyes to the wider world by examining the global distribution of wealth. We are so proud of the children’s curiosity and hard work!

Year 5 has had a wonderful final term.

In maths, we explored 2D and 3D shapes with lots of concrete practice. In shared reading, we dived into the world of Greek mythology, reading Homer’s epic poems, The Iliad and The Odyssey.

Geography and science have been connected through discovering and exploring maps of our local area and the world as a whole. In particular, we found out about high-income and low-income countries — exploring their advantages and challenges — as well as reflecting on plastic pollution and its environmental effects.

In art and design this term, the pupils were inspired to use their electrical circuit knowledge to build their very own toy cars!

Year 5, you have been brilliant. Have a fantastic summer break, and good luck in Year 6!

What a fantastic year it has been for Year 6!

From the very start of the year to the final term, the children have given 100% effort. In Shared Reading, we had wonderful discussions about our class book, Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend.

In Maths, the children became project managers, using addition, subtraction, division, and fractions to design and cost a theme park. Meanwhile, in Literacy, they have worked hard to elevate their writing using a fantastic variety of punctuation.

In Humanities, we explored jobs and settlements, learning about why some countries are rich and others are poor. In Science, the children engaged maturely with environmental issues like pollution, global warming, and how humans affect the planet.

Year 6 have also been brilliant leaders, helping out during Sports Day and the Summer Fair, and delivering an absolutely amazing performance of The Lion King. Finally, our PSHE lessons on ‘Changing Me’ helped them reflect on their personal journeys.

We want to say a huge “Well Done” to all of Year 6 for their hard work, enthusiasm, and excellent behaviour at Murrayfield Primary. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch them grow, and we are so proud of them as they head off to high school this September!

What an incredibly busy and exciting term it has been for our Springboard class!

Our young geographers have been traveling the globe from their tables, exploring different types of settlements and the diverse jobs people do around the world. We even took our learning outside for some hands-on fieldwork, where the children did a wonderful job sketching our school playground.

In our shared reading lessons, the children enjoyed reading the book ‘ The Iron Man’ working together as detectives to solve the mystery – a book everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Meanwhile, our scientists have been exploring the natural world by studying habitats. We put on our explorer hats and went on a lively bug hunt around the school grounds, searching high and low for different habitats and microhabitats.

I am so proud of how hard the children have worked this term!

We have had a very busy term in Leappad 1!

In art, we explored different materials and put our design skills to the test by creating brilliant desk tidies out of recycled items. Over in science, after studying living creatures, classification, and habitats, the children researched their favourite animals online to write their own research reports.

Our reading sessions have been equally exciting, with half the class diving into The Iron Man and the other half enjoying Fantastic Mr Fox. For most of the term, our maths groups were split, with one half focusing on weight and mass while the other half were introduced to fractions.

To top it all off, we all had a truly fantastic Sports Day together!
