This half-term, our topic has been ‘Celebrations,’ and we have been learning about birthdays, World Kindness Day, Harvest Festival, and Bonfire Night.

We started the term with our Parent Share, which was a huge success. The children loved sharing all their learning. In Maths, we have been exploring 2D shapes, weight, counting, and recognising numbers to 10.

We have been listening to and joining in with some lovely stories, and the children have been retelling them and learning new vocabulary. In Phonics, the children have been introduced to 10 sounds with Fred the Frog, and we have had so much fun playing phonics games.

The children have also been talking about kindness, teamwork, friendship, and sharing with Jigsaw Jenie and learning to take turns.

We have had such a busy half-term, ending in our fantastic Winter Concert—well done, Nursery!

We’ve had a busy half term in Reception, where we have been learning all about ‘Celebrations’.

Pupils have enjoyed learning about birthdays, weddings and Christmas. As part of this, the children have really enjoyed creating cards, decorations and dressing up in the role play area for different celebrations.

They have particularly loved learning about the celebration of Christmas – decorating the tree, wrapping presents and dressing up as Santa.

Pupils have been making fantastic progress with their phonics this half term which is fantastic to see. It’s great to see so many pupils using their phonics knowledge to engage more with writing. Some children have begun to write short words, and some are challenging themselves to write simple sentences.

In Maths, we have been learning about capacity, mass and length, as well as exploring 2D and 3D shapes. Pupils are making good progress with their number recognition and sequencing.

Reception pupils have thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor area this half term. The role play dome is always a big hit – we’ve enjoyed it being a vets, a shop and a hot chocolate station! Well done to all Reception pupils for their fantastic learning this half term.

This half term has been a wonderfully busy and exciting time in Year 1!

In maths, we explored lots of different strategies to make 10, using practical resources and problem-solving skills to deepen our understanding.

In OSR, we enjoyed reading a variety of books. Our favourite so far has been Winnie the Witch, the children absolutely loved it and had great fun writing about Winnie and her magical adventures.

During Food and Technology, we made our very own breakfast yoghurt pots.

The children had the chance to taste different fruits and choose the ones they wanted to include. It was a fantastic hands-on experience, helping us learn more about healthy eating while creating something delicious!

It has been a busy and joyful half term, full of learning and new experiences. We can’t wait for the next half term, with even more excitement, joy, and learning ahead.

This term has been a period of immense growth and exciting discovery for our Year 1/2 students!

In Science, the children completed a fascinating unit on forces, where they became little scientists, investigating forces.

Our students have also achieved great success in Maths, using dienes blocks extensively throughout the term to help them visualise and confidently tackle complex concepts like addition, subtraction, and place value. This practical approach has been a firm favourite!

The children’s enthusiasm for reading has been wonderfully contagious, with ‘Burglar Bill’ standing out as the runaway favourite book for the term, prompting lively discussions and creative writing exercises.

Finally, their artistic talents shone through during Art lessons, which culminated in a fantastic project where they designed and painted their own imaginative breakfast pots. We are so proud of everything they have accomplished this term!

In Year 2, we have been developing a foundational understanding of multiplication through practical exploration.

Our Food Technology sessions have focused on practical cooking skills and food preparation. Students successfully prepared tuna sandwiches, engaging with key skills such as measuring, combining ingredients, and ensuring basic food hygiene and safety standards.

In Science, we have been actively exploring different types of forces. Students have identified and investigated common forces, including pushes, pulls, and twisting/turning actions, observing their effects on objects and motion.

In year three this term we have explored the human digestive system and the human skeletal structure.

The children have been so curious and asked some great questions about how our bodies function and what our different organs are used for.

In mathematics we have reached multiplication and division, we encourage our classes to practice times tables as much as possible and they have used their own Timestable rockstar accounts this term.

Our Humanities this term has focused on the religion Judaism and the children have been learning about this religion’s life milestones such as Bat Mitzvahs.

In shared reading we have thoroughly enjoyed the prankings and tricks of Roald Dahl’s classic “The Twits” and we are now exploiting different Aesop’s fables to find the lesson in each tale. The children were so proud of their art work this term, we patiently built our own statues using a variety of materials and even had time to make our statues colourful with some paint work. We are very proud of how hard they have worked this term.

The classes have both really enjoyed our learning on Ancient Greece. They especially enjoyed stories of the mythical creatures and comparing the lifestyle and culture of the Spartans and Athenians.

This is year 3’s first term learning a new language, in French we have learnt greetings, how to give your name and numbers. The children are very confident now in greeting their teachers in French. PE has been very exciting for the children, learning about hockey and techniques for the game.

Lastly, the class have shown great strides in engaging in the programme of “reading plus” to further their comprehension skills. We are very proud of how the class has settled in this half term.

What a term of growth for 4B! We haven’t shied away from challenging topics, and the results have been fantastic.

Our RE lessons have taken us on a journey through the history and culture of Judaism, promoting invaluable understanding and respect for diverse beliefs. In Science, students turned into junior biologists, dissecting the complex world of Animals Including Humans and how different body systems function.

The energy in our classroom is buzzing around our new class novel, The Boy at the Back of the Class. Following on from our inspired writing based on Emil and the Detectives, this new reading text has been a huge hit, prompting sophisticated debates and fostering deep empathy among our students as we explore tough real-world topics.

Perhaps our most exciting news is in Maths: the dedication 4B has shown to times tables practice is paying off! The children’s renewed focus has generated excellent results in our recent checks, demonstrating they are on track for a confident performance in their end of year times tables check. Well done, Year 4B!

Year 5 has had a busy and engaging term!

In English, we finished reading the fantastic book Holes by Louis Sachar, diving into the story of Stanley Yelnats and Camp Green Lake.

Our Maths lessons focused on developing new strategies for multiplication and division, helping us become more confident with complex calculations.

Creativity flourished in Art and DT as we learned how to make a printing plate and successfully printed our designs. In RE, we explored the faith of Judaism, learning about its traditions and practices.

Our Science topic was states of matter, where we investigated solids, liquids, and gases. To top it all off, we enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Wolsey Theatre to watch a captivating performance of Beauty and the Beast!

The Year 6 pupils had a highly engaging and productive Autumn term, with shared reading centred on The Enemy by Charlie Higson.

In Literacy, they built upon their reading of Kensuke’s Kingdom by practicing a variety of writing styles, including diary entries, persuasive writing, descriptive narratives, and developing a survival guide.

In Mathematics, the core focus was on Fractions and Percentages, where students learned to compare fractions and convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages.

The Science curriculum was particularly practical, exploring States of Matter (solids, liquids, and gases) through numerous hands-on experiments that helped illustrate changes of state.

For Humanities, the children explored the Judaism religion. Their creative skills were developed in Art through a unit focused on the technique of Printing.

The PSHE module, Celebrating Difference, promoted an inclusive and respectful classroom environment by focusing on understanding and valuing diversity. Furthermore, pupils began or continued their foundational studies in the Spanish language, developing basic vocabulary and conversational skills. Overall, it has been a productive and enjoyable term for Year 6.

In science we have been investigating how our organs work and how the blood in our bodies work. Art week this term was food tech and the pupils were able to make their own on – the – go food product in the shape of a healthy wrap.

We have completed two books in shared reading this term – Kesuke’s Kingdom and the Journey to Jo’Burg which the children enjoyed.
