This term in Nursery, we have been learning all about the rainforest.

The children have loved exploring the different animals that live there, learning about their habitats and discovering the hot, rainy climate of the rainforest.

In phonics, the children have been working incredibly hard on their Set 1 sounds and are beginning to blend sounds together with growing confidence. We are very proud of the progress they are making.

In maths, we have been identifying and naming 2D and 3D shapes, while talking about the different properties each shape has. The children are also becoming more confident in counting to 10 forwards and backwards and are beginning to use positional language to describe where objects are.

As part of our daily routine, we practise the days of the week and discuss the weather each day, helping the children to develop their communication and understanding of the world around them.

It has been another exciting half term in Reception as we fully immersed ourselves in our Rainforest topic.

From our rainforest role play area to our rainforest stories, crafts and hands-on activities, the children have loved exploring this fascinating theme. In literacy, we enjoyed books such as Monkey Puzzle, Rumble in the Jungle and Slowly, Slowly Said the Sloth, which inspired the children’s writing, including captions, story retelling and creating fact files.

In maths, we explored number patterns, addition and subtraction facts and measuring. The children also learnt about rainforest animals, the layers of the rainforest, waterproof materials and the importance of caring for our world.

A highlight of the half term was our wonderful visit to Jimmy’s Farm, where the children enjoyed seeing the animals up close and learning more about how they are cared for. We are so proud of the enthusiasm, creativity and progress the children have shown throughout this busy and memorable topic.

We have had a wonderfully busy half term in Year 1!

In Art, the children loved getting creative by using a wide variety of different materials to design their own unique self-portraits.

In maths, we took on the challenge of working with much bigger numbers up to 100. The children really enjoyed discovering different ways to add and subtract using handy classroom resources like number bonds, beadstrings, number lines, and Dienes blocks.

Our absolute favourite book in Shared Reading was And Tango Makes Three. The class was captivated by the fact that it is a true story about penguins living in a New York zoo. We are so proud of everyone’s hard work and cannot wait to see what our final half term brings!

Year 1/2 have had a busy and exciting half term.

In art, the children enjoyed creating self-portraits, exploring different techniques to represent themselves creatively.

In maths, they have been developing their confidence with addition and subtraction to 100, using a range of practical resources and problem solving activities.

In science, the children have been learning about plants, identifying different parts and exploring what plants need to grow and stay healthy. We are very proud of all the hard work and enthusiasm they have shown this term.

What a fantastic, busy half-term we have had in Year 2!

In maths, we have been getting active by exploring movement and direction, mastering positional language and learning how to navigate grids.

Our art lessons took a closer look at ourselves as the children used their keen observational skills to create some beautiful self-portraits.

Finally, in science, we blasted off into outer space to discover how the world looks and behaves, uncovering the fascinating reasons behind how our planet and universe work. Thank you for all your wonderful support at home this half-term!

Year 3 have had a busy and exciting term filled with lots of fantastic learning opportunities.

In literacy and language, we have enjoyed reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and using the story to inspire our writing. We have also been creating persuasive advertisements and writing fact files all about Spain.

In science, the children have been learning about environmental issues, including renewable energy and the impact of plastic use on our planet.

In art, we explored surrealist portraits and created some imaginative and creative pieces inspired by surrealism. The children have worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of all they have achieved this term.

It has been an incredibly busy half term in Year 4 as the children dive into some fantastic new topics.

In RE, we have been exploring Humanism, discovering how humanists make sense of the world through reason, empathy, and a shared responsibility to be good to one another. This theme of making positive choices fits perfectly with our science focus, where the children have turned into passionate eco-warriors learning about environmental issues and how we can better protect our planet.

Meanwhile, magic is in the air during our reading sessions as we journey through Hogwarts with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone—the children are absolutely captivated!

Finally, a huge shout-out to everyone for their incredible determination in maths; we are working exceptionally hard on our times tables every day to build up speed and confidence ahead of the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). Keep up the brilliant effort, Year 4!

It’s been a busy and pretty brilliant term for Year 5, with the children diving headfirst into science.

They’ve turned into mini-biologists, getting to grips with living things and how different living things thrive. That focus has come in handy during maths too, where they’ve been tackling the tricky world of decimals—getting those decimal points lined up is no small feat.

When they aren’t crunching numbers, they’ve been lost in the pages of Rooftoppers, following Sophie’s wild adventures across the Parisian skylines and learning that you should “never ignore a possible.” It’s a great tie-in to their RE lessons on Humanism, where the class has been chatting about how we can be kind and do the right thing simply because we care about other people and the world around us. It’s been awesome to see them making connections between the bravery in their reading and the real-life values they’re exploring in class.

This term, our Year 6 pupils have worked incredibly hard preparing for and completing their SATs.

We would like to start by saying a huge “well done” to every single one of them for their dedication and resilience!

• Shared Reading: The children dive deep into A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, exploring its powerful themes and captivating storytelling.
• Literacy and Language: We revisited two brilliant texts from last term—Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe—using them to further develop our writing and analytical skills.
• Mathematics: The focus was heavily on rigorous SATs preparation, with pupils tackling a wide variety of practice problems to build their confidence and exam techniques.
• Art: The children showed off their creative flair by drawing and painting detailed self-portraits, which they then mounted onto unique, custom-made backgrounds.
• Humanities: In our RE and history sessions, the class learned about Humanism. We explored its core principles and looked at how humanist perspectives on the origins of the universe, such as the Big Bang theory, compare and link with various religious beliefs.
• Science: Our young scientists explored the natural world by studying living things and their classification, learning how scientists group organisms based on their characteristics.

We’ve had a busy and exciting term in our class!

In art, the children have been working hard on their self-portraits, practicing different pencil techniques and learning how to use light and dark skin tones.

Our writing lessons took us on a global adventure as everyone wrote their own version of Around the World in 80 Days, telling the story from the main character’s point of view.

Finally, in science, we’ve been exploring the outdoors to study different types of plants and identify the main features of trees. It’s been great to see the students dive into their work with such energy!

It has been an incredibly busy and productive half term for the pupils in Leappad 2!

In their English sessions, the students have been soaring to new heights while reading Katherine Rundell’s thrilling novel Rooftoppers, alongside exploring powerful themes of empathy and acceptance through their writing work on Wonder.

In maths, the class dived into a comprehensive Key Stage 2 review, consolidating all of their hard work and mathematical learning from across the entire academic year. Their scientific inquiries took them into the natural world as they mastered the classification of animals and explored how different species adapt to their environments, while in RE, they engaged in thoughtful discussions surrounding Humanism.

A special congratulations goes out to the Year 6 pupils within the class, who showed immense resilience and determination in successfully completing their SATs. Every single pupil should be incredibly proud of their dedication and achievements this half term!
