Principal’s Welcome

Dear parent/carer,

We are already at the end of Spring term and heading rapidly towards the start of the summer term and hopefully some warmer weather!

Our children have been really busy over the last few weeks with our newly hatched ducklings, World Book Day celebrations, Red Nose Day and some exciting visits to Holywells Park for our younger children.

We hope you enjoy reading the updates from our year groups.

Wishing you a restful few weeks and we look forwards to welcoming the children back into school on Tuesday 14 April.

Yours sincerely

Claire Willis

Easter Activities

There’s plenty happening in and around Ipswich to keep you busy over the Easter break!

The HAF Ipswich Town Foundation soccer schools are returning at Ipswich Academy. They run from 10:00-15:00 on 31 March and 9 April, for children aged 6-12. For those eligible for free school meals the HAF Easter Soccer School spaces offer children a free fun full day of football activities and a hot meal. Find our more and book here

Adventure Camp is running at the Playground, Suffolk Food Hall, for 8-12 year olds. They have a huge range of activities for children to enjoy, and it takes place on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for each week of the Easter holidays. Discover more here.

Inspire Holiday Club for 5-12-year-olds is taking place between Tuesday and Thursday during school holidays. There’ll be a mix of fun activities and games, and it’s a really supportive space for children to spend a couple of days. The prices are from £25, find out more about the Inspire Holiday Club here.

A Tech and STEM Camp is at St Helen’s Primary School from March 30th – April 2nd, and Cliff Lane Primary School from April 7th – 10th, packed with hands-on experiments, high-tech gadgets, and mind-blowing inventions that you can take home with you. Kids aged 5-11 will build, code, and create while exploring the world of STEM in the most fun way possible!

If arts and crafts are more your thing, there are Easter Arts and Crafts Holiday Camps at Capel St Mary Primary School on the 2nd and 8th April. They also have a number of HAF places available.

The Cabin Crew is running an Easter Holiday Club, and an Easter Holiday HAF Programme, offering a variety of indoor and outdoor activities at their purpose-built ‘cabin’ in the grounds of Sidegate Primary School. Open from 7.30am-6.00pm, a two-course meal is included. www.thecabincrew.org.uk

MCAS

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to the My Child at School App.

We are continuing to get a really good uptake on this App which is becoming used more and more. There is now a self sign-up service on the App. Just download ‘My Child at School’ from the App Store (it is free) and click ‘Sign Up’. You will then be asked for the schools name and it will take you through to a sign up page where you will enter your email address and create a password.

All clubs, trips, attendance information, school reports and parents evenings will be operated through this App so please do sign up. If you need any assistance please call the office and they will be able to help you.

New lunch menu

We’re changing our lunch menu for the summer months, so children have a delicious range of new dishes and old favourites to look forward to!

Nut Free School

A polite reminder that we are a nut free school, therefore please do not send your children into school with anything that may contain nuts – including chocolate spreads such as Nutella.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Dropping off and collecting children

School Collection Time

Please could we kindly remind parents/carers that the end of the school day is 3.15pm. Please could you ensure, where possible, that children are collected at this time and not prior to the end of the school day. We have had an increasing number of children being collected from 2.30pm onwards over the past few weeks and therefore children are missing valuable lesson time.

Playground Etiquette at Drop off and Collection Times

Please could we politely remind adults that drop off and collect children to be mindful of the language used in our playground, particularly around our children. We would also ask that any smoking/vaping is done away from the school site and gates.

Bicycles

Bicycles should be walked through the playground for everyone’s safety. Please could we also remind you that dogs are not allowed in the playground and should be kept away from the dates.
