Important Information Regarding Ipswich Academy Transition Days

Jun 23rd

As you are likely aware, an amber weather warning for extreme heat has been issued for this week.

The safety, comfort, and well-being of the children are our absolute priorities. To ensure everyone stays safe and copes well in the heat, we have adapted our uniform requirements for these two days and we will be dismissing the students at 2.15pm on both days.

The Y6 Parents Information Evening will still take place at 6pm on Thursday 25 June 2026.

Please take note of the following adjustments and guidelines:

Uniform Guidance

Primary Uniform Options: Pupils should opt to wear shorts and a polo top as part of their regular primary school uniform.

PE Kit Alternative: If shorts and a polo top are not a standard option for their current school uniform, pupils are very welcome to wear their primary school PE kit instead.

Sun & Heat Safety

To help the pupils stay safe and cool during their time with us, please ensure they come prepared with the following:

Suncream: Please apply high-factor suncream to your child before they arrive. They are welcome to bring a bottle with them to reapply if needed.

Water: Pupils must bring a reusable water bottle. We will have plenty of opportunities throughout the day for them to refill their bottles and stay hydrated.

Caps/Hats: Pupils are permitted and encouraged to wear caps or sun hats while outside during break and lunchtimes. There will be an option to stay safe inside as well.

We want to reassure you that our staff will be monitoring the children closely, keeping activities low-energy where appropriate, and ensuring everyone has access to shaded and cool areas.

Thank you so much for your support in keeping our incoming pupils safe and comfortable. We cannot wait to see them on Wednesday morning for the start of an exciting new chapter!
